Summary/Abstract: This paper will try to analyze the well known figure of the Dandy, most convincingly embodied by Oscar Wilde and his notorious characters, by comparison with its representations in the Romanian sphere. Mateiu Caragiale's life and work will provide a suitable and intriguing counterpart to the better known British cultural icon.
