Summary/Abstract: After the collapse of the Soviet Union, theatres of the post-soviet countries became independent. This huge political occasion caused shock and confusion among the leaders of the theaters. It became quite difficult to discover the actual topics of interest for spectators. After the announcement of independence of Georgia (1991) in Tbilisi there were opened several independent theatrical spaces. After several years, the ideological censorship of the Soviet period was replaced by the financial censorship or self-censorship in the performances based on the patriotic issues or dedicated to the Georgia-Russia War from 2008. The specific censorship with different stems and directions (ideological, financial, self-censorship) will always exist; but the most important is how a theatre will use it. The good censor positively defined the creative process and tendencies, served the national interests and improvement of art as well.
