Bulgarian Values vs. Western Political Campaign Manuals

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the possibilities of using the „Western political campaign manuals“ in Bulgarian political campaigns. The author argues that the cultural differences existing between Western societies and the Bulgarian local communities make it necessary to „translate“ the manuals. A political campaign in Krichim during the 1998 local elections has been presented as an illustration of this kind of adaptive „translation“.
