Summary/Abstract: This paper shows the main characteristics of human resources function evolution, highlighting the divergences and similarities of it in the Western part of the Mediterranean Sea. The movement from the pure administrative staff management approach to a strategic HRM, the adaptation to the latest management innovations, the differences between multinationals and the small and medium companies are also highlighted.
