Summary/Abstract: The article discusses a lively form of children’s folklore, i.e. the teasing rhymes. In the focus of attention here are the teasing rhymes recorded in 1994–2003 and reflecting the last decades of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Having compared the modern teasing rhymes with the traditional ones, the author notes the survival of the same functional groups, i.e. parodies of names, ridicules of defects, jeering, mocking of animals. However, modern teasing texts display much greater variety. Only few former types of the teasing rhymes remained popular, while new types have appeared and spread. Available material of modern teasing rhymes allows us to distinguish several spheres of reality, especially attracting children’s attention, e.g. food and animals. In comparison with traditional teasing rhymes, the abundance of loanwords should be considered a distinguishing feature of modern teasing rhymes.
