Contemporary Public Reflections of the Intimate World

Summary/Abstract: The report discusses the state requirements from 2000 – 2001 and the reform in the contents of the literary materials in the Bulgarian schools which changed the cultural-educational trend Bulgarian Language and Literature. Having in mind the future possibility given to the students, namely, to finish their school education at the end of the eighth grade, new works and authors were introduced. The aim of the educators was to present some more ideas concerning the development of the literary processes in Bulgaria dealing with the challenges of the universal human values. The author shares her own classroom experience focusing her attention on one of Nikolai Haitov’s short stories Dervish’s seed (introduced after the reform) and its qualities and impact on her students.
