Summary/Abstract: Anomie in Slovakia in 2001 and 2008: Comparison and Some Methodological Issues. The theoretical model of societal anomie which was constructed as a main research tool contains three constitutive structural components: a) the norm-lessness, b) the disfunctioning of institutions, and c) the failing of sanctions execution. The estimation of societal anomie was based on specific assessment scale as well as derived anomie index. In Slovakia, two sociological researches on societal anomie were carried out in 2001 and 2008 respectively. While the data show a significant decrease of anomie index in the period, the explanation of this societal change still remains an open issue, which leads to the discussion of key paradigmatical, theoretical and methodological issues. The article also presents prelminary findings of the validation process. The results show that anomie scale fulfils three basic criteria of validation: there is a high degree of expert (respondent) capabilities to assess the situation in society; the scale allows for appropriate differentiation of reality estimations; and provides for only small errors in stimuli localization on continuum.
