Summary/Abstract: Although it has existed in the past – as an exception rather than a rule, interreligious dialogue is a modern phenomenon. Following centuries of self-sufficiency, ignorance, debates and conflicts and based on them, a new type of relations among world religions starts slowly and painstakingly – new to such an extent that we can even speak about a true spiritual revolution. Although many believers still demonstrate mistrust and fear, even bitter opposition, there is no doubt that interreligious dialogue is a necessary element of responsible and mature faith. And it is this understanding that prompts thinking and writing about interreligious dialogue from a Catholic perspective, not only for Catholics but also for members of all the religions that have been part of the religious wealth of our country for centuries. The first part will speak about the necessity and the types of interreligious dialogue in general. We will then present the key outlines of history and reception of interreligious dialogue in the Catholic Church. The closing considerations will try to contextualise the project of world ethos into the socio-political context of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since it is a concept of interreligious (and thus general societal) dialogue initiated by Hans Küng, a great Catholic, but also generally Christian theologian of the 20th century, we believe that following theoretical considerations, we will thus understand more easily the real issues and the real challenges for interreligious dialogue in BiH society we live in and are responsible for – inextricably so, both as believers and as citizens.
