Summary/Abstract: Anti-Muslim tendencies in modernity’s ideologies encouraged the Bosnian- Herzegovinian Muslims to look for an exit from belonging‘s stereotype to “historically survived” community. One of these exits was communist movement, that was, in the conditions of national division and depression, very attractive, especially to the intelligence. The situation during occupation, terror by Ustashas and slaughters by Chetniks contributed to that, although the centralism and official atheism after the war were the obstacles to normalization of relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the downfall of Ranković and phased withdrawal of final repression, Yugoslav communist ideology accepted Muslim national identification and in that way renewed its legitimacy in Muslim masses. References to this “golden period” for Bosnia and Herzegovina remind an obstacle for democratization of Bosniacs’ society.
