Summary/Abstract: The author analyses what new contribution brings the pragmatic philosophy to the „knowledge construction” in archaeology. He makes some observations to the real dimensions of the „agony” which George Bodi’s article assumes to describe the current state of Romanian archaeology. The author concludes by underlining the necessity for the Romanian archaeology to remind itself of its primary scientific mission. In order for this to be possible, it needs to become epistemological realistic, theoretically reflexive and methodologically rigorous and it thus needs to turn towards the impressive theoretical and practical experience of western research traditions.
