The paper presents, on the basis of archival material, the beginning of his university career, on different positions (substitute assistant and then professor) at the Faculty of Philology. In addition, the author analyze Ioan Bogdan’s university lectures, many of them less known, such as the History of culture and civilisation one. The first department of Slavic Studies in Romania was created for Ioan Bogdan, which had a similar scientific level with those European ones. He was one of Ioan Bogdan’s students, but the scholar in Iassy became later one of the strongest disputants with his former professor, not only in the field of Slavic Studies.
