Summary/Abstract: The paper is focused on the analysis of spatial changes in rural areas. The origin of those processes is explained, i.e. economic, social and political questions. Considerable attention is devoted to the typology of conditions influencing social and economic development and spatial structure of rural areas – endo- and egzogenic factors were pointed. Actual trends in changes of rural areas space and negative consequences of spontaneous urbanization were also discussed.
