Summary/Abstract: In this article I make a short review of what democracy means in feminist theories and what democracy actually looked like in the Romanian context of the 90s. This is just a small part from a chapter in my PhD thesis, focusing on the importance of contextualization in talking about the revival of feminism movement in our country. In this sense, I used some of the interviews made for my research. The research was a qualitative one, based on the methods developed by narrative research. In these pages I present only the context of understanding democracy in which this movement rose.
