Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the scarce data about the adoption in the early texts from the Bible – excerpts from both the Old and the New Testaments. They are interpreted within the discourse of the main factors for the appearance of institution of adoption: the natural wish for a successor; preservation of inheritance, and guarantee that the postmortual rituals will be carried out. The main effort is to show the correlation between the religious texts and their legal equivalents, which are richer in content and deeper in understanding. This correlation gives evidence for the development of the institution of adoption, and supports the idea, that the adoption is one of the first social steps towards civilization, because it strengths the kin-group and rises its resistance and vitality.
