Summary/Abstract: On May 26, 2004 the EU Network of Independent Experts in Fundamental Rights1 published its “Report on the Situation of Fundamental Rights in the European Union for 2003”. In the report, among other things, the Experts called on the European Union to develop a “Directive specifically aimed at encouraging the integration of Roma”. Below is the interview conducted by the ERRC with Mr Olivier De Schutter, Coordinator of the EU Network of Independent Experts in Fundamental Rights, discussing matters related to that recommendation.
