Summary/Abstract: This article is a proposal of such an analysis of Ivan Turgenev's story, in which the central theme is the picture (the problematic of status of photographed subject), and interpretive filter - a reflection of identity and difference, developed in theory, philosophy and aesthetics of photography. Photographic theme of “The same grey doll looking to the side”, on one hand constructs oppositions like-other, living-dead, present-absent (in a double respect: to the "Klara Milicz" and to reflections of Barthes, Belting and Freedberg), on the other hand- in a specific way to photography, deconstructs their sharp binarity.
