Qualitative content analysis of the Neuer Weg newspaper

Summary/Abstract: The following article is part of the author’s PhD Thesis including a qualitative content analysis of the former German Newspaper, Neuer Weg, from the Communist Romania. The aim of the present analysis is to study whether this publication was just like any other Romanian socialist newspaper, or if it actually addressed its target group, the German minorities, and their needs. If we first take a look at the facts from the history of the German minorities from Romania and then at newspaper articles, we witness two parallel worlds, the first one tough, with basic, existential problems and the second one celebratory, with dancing parties, book readings and traditions.
