Election Observers in One Region: An Outline of an Analysis

Summary/Abstract: This article discusses some preliminary conclusions after interviewing people who took part in the last presidential election as observers in one region of the Russian Federation. It shows how differently constructed social/geographic spaces from the capital to province and within one region influence observers' work: 1) preparation and choice of an electoral disctrict prior to elections; 2) events on election day; and 3) self-reflections of observers and postelection plans.
