THE CULTURAL POLICY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AN EXAMPLE OF UNITY IN DIVERSITY

Summary/Abstract: The paper finds its motivation in the European Unions process of discovering its common roots as well as its diversity which can both contribute to a common future and to finding the right instruments to build it. Starting from the assumption that European integration can no longer be motivated by the same factors used more than 50 years ago, such as peace or economic prosperity, the paper discusses the importance of cultural factors in shaping the idea of belonging, of a European identity, which brings together countries, regions and especially people.
