Summary/Abstract: The first part of the research paper contains a brief outline of the ideas of Samuel Huntington and Francis Fukuyama concerning the process of modernization. The review of those theoretical concepts relies on the most important and most recognizable theses of their authors: Samuel Huntington’s “clash of civilizations” thesis and Francis Fukuyama’s “end of history” thesis. In the second part of the research, emphasis is given to the critical reading of the above mentioned ideas. Through the examination of modernization processes in the Eastern European geopolitical space, we are going to try to put these sets of ideas into ideological concepts, rather than into science.
