Summary/Abstract: In this article the author reflects upon the concept of europeanization that stands behind the attempts to create a theoretical model of europeanization explaining the impact of the European integration on the states participating in this process. This article shows particular consideration to the theoretical sources of this concept and to the question why was the Europeanization issue ignored in the theories of the European integration for so long. The author claims that such a situation was driven by the specific premises embedded in the theories of the European integration, by weak linkages between the disciplines of international relations and comparative politics within the political science's discipline and by the limited capacity of the European integration process.
