The Past Next to Us. Oral History and Local Communities: A History of Proximity

Summary/Abstract: In 2010, Oral History Institute of Cluj-Napoca began a training program for teachers in the pre-university education in Romania, entitled The Past next to us. Oral history in local communities. Thus, oral history became a proximate genre situated in the proximity of the past. Through oral history from the local community, the history of the family and of the individual occur a gradual and concentric reduction of the “great history of the world”, to the history of the individual, family and community.
