Summary/Abstract: A Midsummer Night's Dream is a true "milestone" for any director. Its modern story begins in the `70s, with Peter Brook's production, reference for the rediscovery of the spirit and contemporary aspect of the play. Performed during the tour in Bucharest, the play overwhelmingly influenced the Romanian directing movement. After 1989, it was a reference point for three leading national artists from different generations: Liviu Ciulei (Bulandra, 1991), Alexandru Darie (Comedy Theatre, 1990) and Felix Alexa (National Theatre, 2003). The conference presents three symbol-productions of the postrevolution poetic directing art and the relation to Brook's performance.
