Fiscal Policy During Crisis

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the main relationships between the imbalance of public finances and economic fluctuations in Poland. The first part shows the impact of economic slowdown on public finances. Then an inverse relationship is analyzed - fiscal policy impact on GDP. In countries with high public debt expansionary fiscal policy may result in a decline in public debt to GDP ratio, because of the existence of the feedback between fiscal policy and economic fluctuations. However, as follows from the analysis, this unusual situation in the Polish economy does not occur.
