The importance of cities in the European Union’s regional policy

Summary/Abstract: In the modern conditions of development the quality of human capital in the city increasingly become the subject matter. Based on the work of R. Florida, Ch. Landry and J. Howkins one can point the concept of creative city. It is a city that uses wildly understood creativity to build competitive advantage. Creativity is nowadays one of the most important factors in modern city development in the so-called cultural industries. It can be also seen on EU regional policy planning.
