Innovation Union as a way to increase the innovation in European economy

Summary/Abstract: Nowadays it is very important to create and adapt new solutions and technologies, and to introduce new products and services. It should be noticed that innovation is the main factor in the development of the companies, regions or countries. The increasing interest in innovation and its impact on socio-economic development can be observed at the level of the European Union and its member countries. Also in new strategy for socio-economic development of the European Union – Europe 2020 innovations occupy a prominent place. This paper describes the concept and types of innovation, presents the general guidelines contained in the document “the union of innovation” drafted by the European Commission.
