Summary/Abstract: The idea of teaching foreign languages to students with special educational needs has gained a worldwide acclaim. The benefits of knowing a second or foreign language are many and extend beyond professional angle. For a disabled person the knowledge of a foreign language offers the possibility to gain a better job and life opportunities, facilitates the access to information and communication. In addition, the process of learning a second language serves a compensatory function and contributes to a development of concept understanding. This is the case with congenitally blind children.
