Slovak Youth Attitudes Toward the Forum and Market Challenges

Summary/Abstract: It is always important to turn back to the past if we strive to find some orientation in the present and future. Let us recall the actual decisive cause of the collapse of the old regime, which caused the citizens of Czechoslovakia to actively resist the establishment at the time. Pavel Machonin quoted the following factors: the long-term loss of national independence under Soviet occupation, life in political and civil oppression, the authoritarian attitude and incompetency of the Communist party, state administration and management bureaucracy, suppression of the right to private property, restriction of any private economic activities of citizens, the lack of motivation for performance orientation of qualified and entrepreneurial-minded people, persistent egalitarian redistribution of social welfare, a marked fall of the living standard and inability to stop environmental problems and endangering of health of the population (Machonin, 1994).
