Summary/Abstract: Henri Bergson reacted to the rationalist exaggerations of positivism that dominated science in the early XIXth century, threatening to smother it, by an ample critique of the limits of thought and language. He suggested that the only access way to the Absolute is intuition and thereby asserts the existence of inexpressible as well as the role of metaphors to communicate it to some extent. The study also contains references to the major cultural contribution of Bergsonism. In the final part, the paper underlines the criticism raised by Bergson’s view on the inexpressible, as well as an eulogy to the work of the great thinker.
