On Some ‘Minor’ American Poets: John Beecher, Claude Mckay, Lucia Trent

Summary/Abstract: The present text discusses about what is called ‘minor poetry’ in America at the beginning of the twentieth century, with reference to three poets who spoke about class, race and/or gender, making their art function politically rather than aesthetically. The main thesis that such poetry makes is that it is a discourse that interferes with the political ideologies of its times in order to encompass diverse facets of alterity.
