Summary/Abstract: There is no denying that Brazil has had a good few years. Named the “twentyfirst century power to watch” in 2009, Brazil rose from the ashes of the global economic downtown relatively unscathed. Recently, Brazil received the largest initial public offering of the year when Spanish bank Banco Santander raised $8 billion dollars by selling shares of its Brazilian subsidiary. And, it was just two years ago that the country was given the honor of being the first South American country to host the Olympic games.
