Summary/Abstract: Every once in a while Czech language experts have a go at the female surname ending –ová. “Into Europe without the –ovás,” said a scriptwriter from Lidové Noviny in the mid 1990s. The main argument was that the languages of nations within the European structures the Czechs want be a part of do not have this linguistic feature.
