Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of formation of the national in-telligentsia of Iran, its activity in enlightenment, reforms in education, in dis-tribution of technical and natural-science knowledge, in the organizations of secular schools, in preparation of professional personnel. Changes in intelli-gentsia structure are shown, specifics of its replenishment by new groups is noted, its participation in political movement of the country at the turn of the XIX and the XX centuries, during the constitutional revolution of 1905—1911 is displayed
