Pragmatic Aspects of Information Coding in a Language (I)

Summary/Abstract: The author discusses the issue of communication functioning of linguistic meaning in the process of informative exchange. The paper deals with issues such as different content of notion “the semantics” in different paradigms of the language philosophy, the foundations of the open (ecological) semantics, contextual conditioning of connotations as well as semantic implication and others. The author introduces new notions, namely arbitrary (algorithmic, final) and reflective (voluntary) mode of language behaviour, in particular of the nomination way. The mechanisms of the contextually conditioned semantic derivation as well as of the inference are considered. The author believes that two categories of signs can be related to two modes of the communication behaviour: digital, that is fixed descriptors, as well as analog, that is signs with the contextual marking semantics.
