Diversified Definitions of Contemporary World Languages in Different Communication and Linguistic Contexts

Summary/Abstract: In the context of ubiquitous globalisation the coexistence of native and foreign languages on areas where mother tongue, first, main, ethnic, local and home language has always been used requires from linguists coining new terms which would reflect the current civilisational needs. My presentation of linguistic terminology as defined by authors of texts published in the volume ‘Polish Communication and Linguistic Policy and Challenges of the 21st century’ points conspicuously to considerable differentiation in defining contemporary languages in different situational contexts.
