Summary/Abstract: The text presents taxonomic categories used in the description of perception verbs. The comparison of data based on Polish, Russian and English allows to conclude that the thesis which attributes a universal (or at least common) semantic paradigm based on derivation is a form of an interpretative abuse. What is more, the distinction into state, action and descriptive predicates which is commonly used in the literature of the subject can only be adopted as an auxiliary technical device.
