Summary/Abstract: The article follows the historical evolution of the Bulgarian migrant community in Slovakia. The types of migration processes have been considered, which have resulted in its formation and existence in a Slovak milieu of foreign ethnicity. An attempt has been made to define the Bulgarian community as a type in a more general classification. The principle of formation of ethnic communities in a foreign ethnic environment has been adopted as a fundamental typological feature. According to that classification, there are three basic types: an ethnic enclave, an ethnic diaspora and ethnic dispersion. As a result of the analysis made, the Bulgarian community in Slovakia can be defined as ethnic dispersion.
