Summary/Abstract: In my paper I discuss the Levinas’s understanding of philosophy as phenomenology of the Other in connection with Plato’s introducing the philosophy as erotic mania. Simultaneously I attempt to expose the ambivalent role of “the other sex” in his approach to the question of otherness.
