Summary/Abstract: The tenses can generate stylistic values by means of the meaning which they imprint communication with; the frequency and chronology of events can represent criteria which help us in identifying the expressive particularities of verbal tenses. The degree of expressiveness in a text can reach a high level when the presence of a verb is doubled by the presence of figures of speech, among which the most relevant one is the metaphor.
