The holy image of St. Bruno from the Giżycko shrine

Summary/Abstract: The author presents the picture of St. Bruno from Giżycko shrine which is one of the most recognizable images of that saint not only in Poland, but also throughout Europe. Thanks to its import to the chapel, and then its transposition to the church of St. Bruno, the veneration of the saint became widespread, and the legend about his death of martyr in these areas got its fame. The article shows how the image of the saint fascinates crowds of people, and attracts the faithful who want to pay homage to the great apostle of the peoples of the East.
