Impact of Turkish Accession

Summary/Abstract: Some days ago, His Excellency Mr. Gül visited Germany, and the German Foreign Minister said that Germany would do its best to ensure that the decision in favor of Turkey be taken at the EU December Summit. I think before I discuss these words, I have to express my congratulations to Foreign Policy Institute on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary, an Institute which was very useful also for Turkish-German relations. My Institute and also the Eastern European Association in Germany, we had a very useful cooperation with the Institute and especially with Mr. Seyfi Taşhan. And also my warmest congratulations, Seyfi Bey, on your 80th birthday. So we are happy to have you amongst us and we hope you will have many many more years as the Director of the Foreign Policy Institute.
