Should Turkey Be a Full Member of the EU?

Summary/Abstract: I feel much honored being invited for this Conference. I think that this Conference is at the right time and it has the right subject. As the President of the Turkish Foreign Policy Institute already mentioned, I am a member of the Parliament, of the Dutch Parliament and you know that the Netherlands is now in the Chair of EU and our Prime Minister has to solve the question whether Romania and Bulgaria might enter the European Union, but also he has to solve the question “will we start the negotiations with Turkey in 2005 or will it be later?”.
