The role of risk management and visibility in supply chains under complex economic conditions

Summary/Abstract: In the paper current trends influencing contemporary supply chains are presented. The sources of risk are discussed and the methods of identification of risk are shown. Different strategies dealing with the risk are presented, the examples of Cisco and Ericsson are introduced. The meaning of supply chain risk management for the competitiveness of firms and the whole supply chains is explained. The last part of the paper covers the last tendencies in business – the growing pressure on visibility of supply chains. The PACE model is presented, which shows how visibility in a supply chain can be achieved.
