Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with bereavement of a loved one which may be accompanied by a life crisis. Death of a family member will always be considered as a very painful, undesirable situation and family members often do not know how to deal with it. The paper also distinguishes various stages of death in man's life, death of a young person being often a real trauma for the family. In such cases, logotherapy helps people to overcome the feeling of emptiness and loneliness by looking at the life that existed once and emphasising that despite the death there are still things and facts that do not disappear with the passing away of the individual. It is necessary to realize that without the definiteness of human life we could hardly reach its fullness and maturity.
