Summary/Abstract: This paper presents our approach to frame establishment and analysis in pragmatic texts. We use the IATRIA model to (1) establish frames, (2) identifY frame constituents and (3) create cognitive structural relations so as to facilitate source text understanding in the reception phase of the translation process. The paper is to be seen within the framework of translation for which the IATRIA model has been developed.
