Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses how results of public opinion surveys are presented in Czech printed media. It characterizes the news values of survey results and their consequences for media presentation. It invokes criteria of the transparency of presentation and the correctness in reference to their sources. Survey presentation in three Czech national dailies during the 1996 and 2006 election periods are content analyzed. Greater unification and increased use of survey results in election reports is apparent. There is a gradual shift from reports to comments. The inclusion of methodological information differs among the journals. Whereas in 1996 there was almost no discussion about the quality of the surveys and their role in democracy, in 2006 many themes are touched and comments are largely critical. Elements of yellow journalism begin to appear in addition to serious discussion.
