Slovak public opinion on the military and its involvement in foreign military missions (the polls)

Summary/Abstract: The article brings complex overview of several empirical surveys conducted by the author at the Ministry of Defence in last four years. Results of these surveys bring better light to attitude of the general public towards already fully professionalized Slovak army, its capabilities, involvement of Slovakia in solving crisis global crisis, participation of Slovak soldiers in missions in general and with special focus on involvement in ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Article pays bigger attention to this particular mission and attitude of the Slovak public towards this operation. This mission is a centerpiece of Slovak efforts as a member of the NATO. The author is covering not only results of surveys, but he places them in time and describes the dynamic of public opinion over the time.
