Summary/Abstract: While the challenges faced by the social sciences and humanities on a global level are similar – with regard to finding a method and theory for the adequate analysis of contemporary society, as well as the re-affirmation of values traditionally associated with the humanities – the case of Sweden is specific in a number of ways. The paper considers the way of organizing and place within Swedish society and academia occupied by studies within the social sciences and humanities.
