Summary/Abstract: What I want to talk about today is the hypothesis of a specifically Scottish criticism in other words, a series of analytical and interpretative models devised specifically for the elucidation of Scottish literary texts. Yet before doing this it seems essential to say something about the status of Scottish literature.
