Summary/Abstract: This article highlights that study of phonics, phonology and phonetics as the crux of any language. Some of the explicitly seen problems due to inappropriate way of learning concerning pronunciation of English in countries where English is Foreign and Second Language in general and arctic countries in particular are discussed. Factors leading to these problems are lack of knowledge in phonics, phonology and phonetics of English, habitual substitution with native accents and the like. The capabilities of the foreign language learner are highlighted. Problematic areas are pin pointed. Methods are suggested. A new outlook is drawn for phonics, phonology and phonetics by giving reasons for its non-acquisition and the ways to acquire it. Phonics, phonology and phonetics are the backbone of language learning.
